San Jose Wedding Photographer: Dana & Joe at Casa Grande and the Hotel De Anza
It’s hard to put into words what an awesome couple Dana and Joe are. Two of the nicest, most down to earth, and most fun people you could possibly hope to meet, they have one of those only-in-the-movies how we met stories. Their eyes met across a crowded bar, and when Dana looked down for a moment, embarrassed, she looked back up to find Joe standing next to her, and the rest was history. An incredible singer with a cascade of gorgeous blonde hair and a smile that lights up the room, Dana was a total city girl who’d never really been much for the outdoors. Joe, handsome and reserved, works for the park service and introduced Dana to a whole new world.
It’s a testament to what a strong couple they are that they both managed to have an amazing time even though Joe suffered a serious broken leg in a bike accident, and then endured a subsequent major surgery just two weeks before the wedding and was on crutches the whole time. Neither let it get in the way, and with the help of Joe’s brother they installed a beer holder on his right crutch. The first dance was more of a “first sway” and his mobility was a little compromised, but if you looked at the smiles on both of their faces and the laughter that carried them through from beginning to end, you’d never have know anything was wrong.
Although they had originally planned a simple backyard wedding, they stumbled across Casa Grande at the New Almaden Mining Museum in San Jose, and realized it would be the perfect spot for the wedding. With a ceremony under a grove of trees, and a reception behind the beautiful 1854 building with it’s spectacular wrap-around porches, it couldn’t have been prettier. Their incredible planner and florist, Erin of Pine Street Events, did a gorgeous job decorating the tables with their grandmothers’ depression era glass, fresh flowers, moss, and tiny vintage deer figurines. Dana’s sister, Erin Kelley, did the bride’s beautiful hair and makeup, Catered Too provided the wonderful meal, and Turner from Elite Entertainment kept the dance floor crowded all night. After the dancing ended, guests hopped on a shuttle back to the Hotel De Anza for a relaxed after-party that was the perfect end to a perfect wedding.
Congratulations you two – I can’t wait to hear what’s next!
