San Francisco Bay Area Wedding Photographer: Ronald & Vi Part 2 – The Vietnamese Ceremony
And now for part two of this amazing couple’s wedding! (You can see their first step here). After spending so much time with Ronald, Vi, and their families the previous weekend for their Cambodian wedding, I walked in already excited to see everyone again, and watch the next step of their mariage. I was definitely not disappointed; It was a day filled with everything I love most about photographing – weddings a few tears, a lot of laughs, and some of the best dancing I’ve ever seen.
The morning began at Vi’s parent’s home for a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony in the morning, followed by an outfit change, some photos at the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano, and then a reception in Anaheim, where the party really got started. Trying to narrow down a “highlight” for the night is just about impossible, but I think I can get it down to about five. First (and sweetest) was listening to Ronald & Vi’s recorded vows during their first dance and watching Vi try to hold back her tears. Then, one of the most hilarious best man’s speeches I’ve ever heard, where the best man, Peter, hoped that someday he would find “a girl as amazing as Ronal… I mean Vi!”. There was watching Ronald’s dad perform a song he had written for his wife, as the guests sang along and showered him with flowers. There was also (and most hilariously) the moment when the DJ announced the garter toss and cued up “Gangnam Style”, only to have Vi realize that her garter was missing and run off to find it… leaving Ronald alone in the middle of the dancefloor stalling for time. He more than rose to the occasion, keeping the dancing going for a few long moments, before his best man came running over, and dove across the floor to lay on the ground with his head between Ronald’s legs in a perfect imitation of the PSY video. I am lucky to have gotten good at holding a camera steady while laughing, because otherwise, there is no way I could have caught that. And finally, there was listening to Ronald’s thank you speech, where he looked at his new wife and seemed almost too overwhelmed with happiness to even express how lucky he felt to have her… but he managed anyway.
There was so, so much warmth at this wedding, not just between the bride and groom, but between all of their friends and family as well. It’s so obvious that they are going to have an incredible life together, and I can’t wait to hear what’s next for the two of them.
All my love, Ronald & Vi, and I wish you both all the happiness in the world!
