Indian Wedding Photographer: Namrata & Kaushik’s Wedding in New Delhi, India

What can I say possibly say about this incredibly warm, close-knit family that I haven’t already?  This is a night that gives that old cliche “filled with joy” real and concrete meaning.  Our bride, Namrata, has never been slow with a smile or a laugh, but tonight she’s absolutely glowing with happiness.  You can see that Kaushik feels it too; some of my favorite shots of the entire trip are simple ones of the two of them looking at each other during the ceremony.  You can see that the rest of the family feels it as well, and the warmth in everyone’s smiles in infectious.

Held at The Palms in the heart of Gurgaon, it was a gorgeous evening.  Huge tents made of strips of red and orange fabric with endless garlands of hand-strung marigolds decorate the lawn.  The lighting is dim, soft, and beautiful.  It’s one of those nights that makes me incredible grateful for the fast prime lenses and incredible sensitive modern camera sensors that allow me to capture an evening like this without using my flash.

As Namrata & Kaushik circle the fire for the seventh time, representing the seven lifetimes that they will be married for, a trouble-making uncle jokes that he and his wife must be on their seventh already.  His wife elbows him in the side, and then they look at each other laughing, and you can see that all jokes aside, they’re still as happy and in love as ever.  It’s always wonderful to see couples who have been together for so long still have such warmth and love for each other; I think it’s pretty obvious from this night that Namrata & Kaushik will be one of them, too.

Warmest wishes, you two – May you both be this happy for all seven!

  1. Hi Grace! I am really impressed seeing the quality of the pictures and the Artistic B&W and Sepia tones that you have given to the pictures.. I am a wedding photography myself and I must say from a photographers perspective too this was an amazing wedding that you have captured… Being a traditional wedding, you made sure nothing was missed in this wedding which is so important for the couple and their beloved family! Applause for your skills and the eye for photography! You are an artist and I bow to you 🙂 I see a lot of pictures in this album were taken in night yet so crisp and clean and NO FLASH which is really commendable… Would you be able to help me out with the lens that you used in this wedding, as I currently use 18-55mm, 55-200mm and 50mm 1.8 in the weddings that I do but thinking of upgrading to newer gears for more sharper and cleaner pictures. • Thank you so much Yogendra! Are you on Canon or Nikon? I usually work with prime lenses because they perform so much better in low light, but because they do not have a zoom, I carry two camera bodies and switch back and forth. These were taken with the canon 35mm f1.4 L lens on the Canon 1D MK IV, and the 85mm f1.2 L on the Canon 5D MK II. Also, I don’t know what program you are using for editing, but the newest Adobe Lightroom has great NR, much better than Photoshop and it’s a much more affordable program as well. Hope that helps! It looks like you have some gorgeous work as well, and I’d love to chat with you more!

      • Thats so nice to have reply from you Grace… I really appreciate your comments on my work.. I particularly have a hard time taking pictures in low light and even if they do come they most of the times comes blurry becuase they are kit lens and not prime 🙂 I am a Nikonian with Nikon D3100 as my camera body and as mentioned earlier 18-55 wide angle standard and 55-200mm standard zoom lens.. I would really like to talk to you more as well and see if I could sometime work with you on your future projects in India, especially if you are in mumbai… How and when could we talk? I am so much excited to learn from you. I currently use Adobe PS CS 6 for editing pictures.
